Staying Alert on the Road

truck driver
We’ve all seen the pills and energy shots available at a truck stop’s checkout. They seem like an easy way to stay awake and alert during a long, overnight haul, but we at the Hoploads load finder system think there are healthier solutions.
The best way to prepare for staying awake may be the most obvious: sleep! Taking a nap, even if it’s only for a half-hour, has been proven to give the body more energy. Even if you’re a little groggy when you first wake up, you’ll be able to stay awake longer.
If you are traveling alone, silence can make your eyelids heavy really fast. Remember that your smartphone is your friend. Along with the Hoploads load finder app, it gives you access to all of the music and media you could ask for. Turn on your favorite band, podcast, or audiobook and turn the volume up to stay alert all night.
While you’re turning the volume on your radio up, you might want to turn the temperature of your cab down. A warm, toasty cab can make some people want to sleep just reading about them. Try keeping the temperature just lower than what you would normally find comfortable. The brisk chill can help you keep your eyes open and focused on the road.
